UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF

The

United Way
of Kankakee County would like to thank the community for their terrific support of the 2010 Campaign Kick-Off. Special thanks goes to all who attended the Montgomery Gentry concert, the many volunteers, sponsors, partner agencies, concert producer, Hidden Cove Sportsplex, Jason and the Haymakers, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry and their band. United Way is pleased to have brought this level of entertainment to the area.

United Way also thanks the community for all of its feedback since the concert. There are some great suggestions for improvements. Over the next few weeks, we will meet with each of the concert’s partners to review the concerns, feedback and suggestions.

We greatly appreciate all of our donors who continually show they are dedicated and generous people. United Way’s annual donation campaign will remain the cornerstone of how we fund 46 programs within our 24 partner agencies. However, those programs and agencies are being strained and we recognize the need to develop creative and innovative ways to increase awareness and reach the 2010 campaign goal of $1,100,000. As long as there are needs in Kankakee County ,

United Way
is committed to meeting the challenge.

- FamilyWize Continues to Help Our Community

FamilyWize continues to add value to our community.  In the past 18 months Kankakee and Iroquois Counties have seen over $75,000.00 in savings from our friends at FamilyWize.  Their discount is averaging over 30% savings to those using the card at any of our local pharmacies.  Please remember that no local donations or funding has gone to provide this service; FamilyWize is a national organization with national funding committed to saving $100,000,000.00 in prescription drug care coverage around America, and Kankakee County and Iroquois County are just a few of those communities benefiting from this no-cost program.  For more information about FamilyWize check our FamilyWize tab or go directly to their website www.familywize.org.
