UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF

The

United Way
of Kankakee County would like to thank the community for their terrific support of the 2010 Campaign Kick-Off. Special thanks goes to all who attended the Montgomery Gentry concert, the many volunteers, sponsors, partner agencies, concert producer, Hidden Cove Sportsplex, Jason and the Haymakers, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry and their band. United Way is pleased to have brought this level of entertainment to the area.

United Way also thanks the community for all of its feedback since the concert. There are some great suggestions for improvements. Over the next few weeks, we will meet with each of the concert’s partners to review the concerns, feedback and suggestions.

We greatly appreciate all of our donors who continually show they are dedicated and generous people. United Way’s annual donation campaign will remain the cornerstone of how we fund 46 programs within our 24 partner agencies. However, those programs and agencies are being strained and we recognize the need to develop creative and innovative ways to increase awareness and reach the 2010 campaign goal of $1,100,000. As long as there are needs in Kankakee County ,

United Way
is committed to meeting the challenge.

AT&T Foundation Announces Support for United Way of Kankakee County

Kankakee IL, Sept 16 2009 – The AT&T Foundation, the philanthropy arm of AT&T, has announced a grant of $2,000 to the United Way of Kankakee County. The grant will go to support essential United Way services and programs that strengthen local communities.

“AT&T is pleased to support the United Way of Kankakee County and we applaud them for the great work they do in the community,” said John Quinn, AT&T area manager – external affairs. “During such challenging economic times, their dedication to providing essential services to people in need has never been more important.”

This grant is in addition to the generosity of AT&T employees who have contributed to the United Way through the company’s employee campaign. AT&T hosts an annual United Way campaign that gives employees a variety of ways to support, including one-time or ongoing donations, a national online auction and local fundraising events.

“Through the generosity of the AT&T Foundation and local AT&T employees, we are able to advance the common good and improve people’s lives,” said Greg Carell, Executive Director of the United Way of Kankakee County. “This gift will help us provide funding for our 24 partner agencies."
