United Way of Kankakee County Brings FamilyWize to the Community in a Big Way (07/28/09)

     United Way of Kankakee County brings FamilyWize to the community in a big way.  FamilyWize is responsible for providing the country with Free Prescription Drug Discount Cards to those who do not have any insurance or those with insurance that does not cover certain prescriptions.  Patients can save up to 30% on AVERAGE for prescription drugs with these cards.  United Way of Kankakee County has gone to over 200 businesses scattered throughout the county to make sure these life savers get in the hands of those who need them the most.  The Executive Director of the United Way of Kankakee County, Greg Carrell, has said on numerous occasions, “We just want to do everything we can to help out the community of Kankakee County and this is another way we can do that.”  Through the partnership of the United Way of Kankakee County and FamilyWize, the community has saved over $40,000 in the past two years for the residents, with goals of doubling that number in the next year.

     All that you need to do is take the discount card to a pharmacy when filling prescriptions and present the card to the pharmacist.  FamilyWize is not insurance but a discount card that can be used repeatedly without any sort of registration process or fees.  On behalf of all at United Way of Kankakee County, a special thanks goes out to all the businesses involved in helping make this community a better place.
