UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF

The

United Way
of Kankakee County would like to thank the community for their terrific support of the 2010 Campaign Kick-Off. Special thanks goes to all who attended the Montgomery Gentry concert, the many volunteers, sponsors, partner agencies, concert producer, Hidden Cove Sportsplex, Jason and the Haymakers, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry and their band. United Way is pleased to have brought this level of entertainment to the area.

United Way also thanks the community for all of its feedback since the concert. There are some great suggestions for improvements. Over the next few weeks, we will meet with each of the concert’s partners to review the concerns, feedback and suggestions.

We greatly appreciate all of our donors who continually show they are dedicated and generous people. United Way’s annual donation campaign will remain the cornerstone of how we fund 46 programs within our 24 partner agencies. However, those programs and agencies are being strained and we recognize the need to develop creative and innovative ways to increase awareness and reach the 2010 campaign goal of $1,100,000. As long as there are needs in Kankakee County ,

United Way
is committed to meeting the challenge.

- Thank You!

Thank you to everyone that was involved in the United Way campaign this year.  In a tough year for the economy, the community rallied together to raise an impressive $953,000.  It takes many individuals to achieve this level of success; thank you to everyone who is involved, whether you are a donor or volunteer.

The campaign wrapped up last night with a celebration!  ECC of the Year is Ron Young from the City of Kankakee, and Pam Debono was honored as Volunteer of the Year for her work on the Success by Six initiative.  The work of United Way is made possible by many volunteers; thank you to all who strive to fulfill the mission of the United Way.

Greg Carrell, Executive Director of the United Way of Kankakee County, stated "The money raised in the United Way campaign is a gift from the community that helps us provide funding for health and human service programming, which changes annually to meet the needs of the community."

The staff of United Way appreciates everyone involved in the organization and looks forward to kicking off another successful campaign in the fall.
